A significant proportion of Paul’s work involves contentious, special situations, often with an international dimension.

Recent assignment highlights

• Advised on the restructuring of a US$6bn turnover global commodity business headquartered in the UAE. The group had bilateral, syndicated and trade finance facilities involving over 40 European and Middle Eastern lenders.  
• Restructuring advisor and Administrator of a £100m turnover international chemicals manufacturing and distribution group which continued to trade in Administration for 12 months whilst assets valued in excess of £20m were sold. Multiple secured lenders owed more than £11m recovered their positions in full. 
• Company side adviser and Administrator, appointed to frustrate a hostile Receivership and deliver an enhanced outcome for a complex debt stack of secured creditors. Total secured debt £20m. Recoveries enhanced by c.30% compared to the estimated Receivership outcome.   
• Buy side adviser to a purchasing consortium seeking to acquire the operational subsidiaries of a US$100m turnover global currency retail business.
